Coffee Lovers, Brew Better Coffee

I love coffee, always have, always will! I love it iced, I loved it frozen, I love it hot, with sugar, no sugar, creamer. I go crazy with creamers and changing up my coffee's. I am currently in love with a French Vanilla Folgers coffee. For one I love Folgers, but their French Vanilla has enough flavor to even drink it black. The only problem is sometimes our coffee maker and filters seem to take all of that great flavor out of them. Along with addig who knows what in between and having to change them out so mold does not get in from the water. A pain to have one if you ask me.

So I thought I would purchase a pour over coffee brewer. I already have a cold coffee brew which I love, but some times a nice warm cup with the aroma is nice too. I purchased a Stainless Steel Coffee Dripper by Dolce Caffe. This was my first time using one of these pour over coffee brews, the box did not come with directions but their Amazon page tells you exactly how to do it:

"Rinse" the filter with hot water, this serves to pre heat the filter before use.
Dump this water and fill the filter with your choice of ground coffee. Gently tap the edges to even the bed.
Begin a brief stage of pre-infusion which is as follows: Pour about 10% of the total water volume evenly across the coffee, start a time and wait about 30-45 seconds. This releases gases that build up during roasting, an event seen in the "blooming" of fresh coffee.
Immediately afterwards, continue to pour in a slow circular in and out motion for about 90 seconds.
Continue pouring directly into the middle of the filter, keeping the water level consistent. They say to shoot for about 3:00-3:30.
Lastly, you remove the filter from the server (being your cup or pot), dump the grounds, scrub the filter, and serve the coffee straight for your server of choice.

I have not yet mastered this, since being my first time trying and owning one of these. But I think it is pretty cool! I love for one that there is no more paper filters, so I am saving money there. Also I am getting more flavor in my coffee, that the paper filters take away from me. It is a little time consuming, but not much longer than waiting for your pot to brew. Plus I have no coffee grounds in my cup ever! Somehow in our pot, there would always be some to filter through, but with this there is no way for them too. There is really no mess to this system either, the dripper fits right on the top of your mug and never gets hot. The handle on the dripper is heat resistant so it is always staying cool so you can hold it. Early in the mornings I am not always fully awake when making my coffee so this helps me from burning myself. ;) It is a durable dripper, looks great with all of my other coffee accessories on our counter and drips at just the right rate. You can watch it drip into your cup while smelling the aroma of your morning coffee. If you have a coffee lover in your family or circle of friends this is something awesome to get them. Mother's Day and Father's Day is coming out here is a great little gift!
